Or something like that.. I heard this ad on TV few minutes ago while watching Bigg Boss 3. It sent me into the thinking mode that when will people get over this caste n all crappy stuff!!
Blame it on my birth in punjabi community or on the environment around me. I never had any such feeling towards any cast, creed etc. And that is probably because there is not much caste system in Punjabis? If you are a punju, then you are a punju and nothing else. I know we are bigg show off people and like to flaunt endlessly, we envy that how can others show off more than us and a lot of bullshit, but then everyone is same around.
I really love to sit around conversations where people are discussing such stuff, it gives me a lot of entertainment material to laugh for days. By the way i used to get so irritated by this system when i was in college. My college is in banaras and on the scale of 1 to 10, i rank banaras at 100 on the basis of discrimination in the society. They wont say it on the face, they are all happy go lucky people, but the moment they ask your full name, it begins!
I just feel like saying - Grow up people! In this age, this bullshit aint gonna get you anywhere!

Ah I understand what you are talking about.. Even i feel its senseless in this age and time. Theres a bit of it in my society.. not much in our generation but i would say more in our grandparents generation. So if GenX is really attached to grandpa and grandma they might take caste into consideration. But times are changing for good..
And good that you posted this. I never understood what that barber fellow was saying in that ad :D
now i know i heard it right :) I felt it was too casteist to be on national tv.. but it happens only in India
I agree completely.
And kudos to you that you featured it in here. That expression of "low caste" is common here in Varanasi. People loose friendships, relationships and sometimes their jobs too.
I feel that situations are changing; outside Varanasi at least. I hope Varanasi changes too.
It's embedded into our society dude... although we might not like it, we have to bear with it. We might be inclined to think that this is all old generation thinking and the GenX ppl won't give a damn abt this, but i guess there are still many ppl of our generation(youngsters) who also religiously follow (though not visibly like untouchablilty n stuff) the caste system.
I think it is there in hinduism( sorry for dragging religion here. Even i am a hindu) to think in terms of caste system. It is very easy for u punjabis to think beyond caste systems because the basic principle on which sikhism is based on is 'no casteiesm'. I guess that basic principle helps the punjus to think beyond petty casteisms.
i really feel this casteism is ghatiya and more so when even aaj ka generation does it :x
yeah i've seen that ad , 2 months me band ho jayga not because of the stupidity but because its on sony ( which no one watches anyway). now that's sad
